The Mommy Rebellion Book
Brutal Honesty About Motherhood and Other Sh*t We Pretend We Love Everything About
Are you tired of feeling alone and like this parenting journey was not what you signed up for?
Join the club, mama — because you are definitely not alone. And this is the book to read when you’re locked in the bathroom while your kids (and/or partner) are banging on the other side of the door… and you have no idea how you’re going to make it to bedtime.
Because parenting is totally magical… and also a total f#$%ing mess!
- For every sweet picture they draw you… somebody has literally smeared their poop on the floor (and why is it green?!?)
- For every insta-worthy cute baby photo… there are 857 more photos from hell that will never see the light of day
- And for every loving hug and kiss… there are 12 more moments in the day where you’re being grabbed, pinched, and surprise-kicked by tiny fists of fury
“This is a book to let moms know they aren’t alone in the magical mess, to help them know it’s okay to be a mess, make a mess, and choose how you’re going to get through the adventure of motherhood.”
And the “normal” parenting books don’t talk about hard questions (and the ones you’re too embarrassed to ask) like…
… Does feeling isolated and alone mean you’re doing it wrong?
… Even though you love your kids… is it OK to hate being a parent some days?
… And why is it so boring and gross all the time?
(The answers are: you’re doing great, everyone has days when they wish their kids into oblivion, even if they don’t admit it… and it’s gross because having children is basically like caring for a tiny drunk person 24 hours a day.)
“This is everything you’re thinking but too afraid to say for fear of judgment. But we’ve all been there.”
The Mommy Rebellion Book is here to help you put your oxygen mask on FIRST.
But this is NOT another parenting advice book. You don’t need another expert to make your feel like crap, tell you want to do or force some Stepford Mom fairytale on you.
This is the book to read when you just need someone to tell you that you’re not alone and you’re going to be OK.
This is the book to read when you’re ready to channel your inner rebel, question the status quo, and start parenting your way.
This is the book to read when you need someone to help you smile through the madness… because otherwise you’re about to pack a bag and drive off into the sunset (we’ve ALL had that fantasy).
In this book, Chase Young shares a compilation of essays, stories, and WTF moments (ask her about the time her daughter tried to eat sawdust) straight from the parenting trenches.
The Mommy Rebellion is more than just a book: it’s a community, a movement and a battle cry for every overwhelmed, slightly crazed mom who needs a helping hand and a validation that she’s not alone.
That it’s OK to be imperfect, that learning to put yourself first isn’t “nice to have” but essential, and that being vulnerable enough to ask for help can lead you to the support you want and deserve.
That there is power in showing up in our vulnerability and we create deeper connections and get better support when we do (even if it means we sometimes feel like we are letting our inner bitch out).
Your purchase of The Mommy Rebellion Book includes:
- Either a paperback or digital copy of The Mommy Rebellion Book (with over 50 stories of parenting failures, WTF moments and musings).
- An invitation to join the private Mommy Rebellion community so you can connect with other mothers going through the same stuff in a safe no judgement allowed container
- A chance to laugh, cry and not feel alone anymore.
Here’s a sampling of stories you’ll find inside…
Interrupting Chickens – how a picture book created a whole sublanguage in Chase’s house to describe certain behavior.
I’m Ignoring My Kids, How About You? Sometimes it really is better to just ignore them and let them work it out themselves.
Suicide Watch the best description Chase has ever heard of parenting, and how somedays having everyone alive at the end of it is the most and best we can ask for!
The Phantom Pooper who isn’t flushing the toilet, and why, why, why does this keep happening?
The Babies That Don’t Get Born most of us have stories of loss — not just gratitude of the children we get to look after. Yet we don’t talk about or share those stories of loss… at all..
“This is a book that tells it like it is and helps you to know that whatever you’re going through you’re not alone. Parenting is messy and that’s okay.”

About the Author
Chase Young is an author, Girl Scout Leader, entrepreneur, maker and mother to four daughters currently 12, 10, 7 & 5. She wrote this book because she was tired of hearing how tired all the mothers in her community were feeling. Of having discussions about how you can ask for help and it can get better and just getting back blank stares. How we all feel so much better when we can laugh at the crazy shit our kids/spouses/pets just did.
Chase wrote this book so mothers can feel supported no matter how their mothering journey is currently going. Chase needed permission to ask for help – and had to get over the fear that everyone was going to judge her for being imperfect (but little did she know they all felt the same as she did.
By learning to ask and RECEIVE help Chase was able to start to breathe again, and become a much better mom because of that. You don’t have to do it their way, your kids can go to bed early or stay up late and you can do it the way that works best for your family. You can take care of yourself and your family will be better for it, and that’s being a Rebel Mom is all about.
What people are saying about The Mommy Rebellion:
“I would describe this as an easy, enjoyable, touching, relatable read. I recommend this book because it’s really funny while at the same time being really true. You know allll those Mom moments you don’t really talk about and wonder if you are the only one that deals with them? Well Chase bares the glorious AND messy sides of parenting in this book and you will feel sooo seen, that you are not alone, and be able to laugh at how absurd and hard parenting is sometimes.”
This is the book – and the movement – that I wish was around when my kids, now grown, were younger. Chase is a present-day Erma Bombeck. Her essays are laugh-out-loud funny, and within them she poses thoughtful questions and shares vital wisdom about modern parenting. She gives readers an open, authentic look at the tough yet rewarding job of mothering. Read the book, and join the Mommy Rebellion! You’re not alone.
Let’s celebrate that our kids (and partners) are still alive at the end of the day…
And find ways to support each other through the magical mess of parenthood. One story at a time.
